Funeral to take place of Achill woman who died in London bus tragedy

The funeral of Kathleen Kilcoyne who died in London will take place in Achill

THE funeral of an Achill native who died tragically after she was struck by a bus in London in August will take place in Achill.

Kathleen Kilcoyne (73) a native of Ashleam on Achill Island was tragically killed when she was struck by a bus on Neasden Lane, Brent in North-West London on August 17 last. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Mass for Kathleen took place at St Agnes Church in Cricklewood in London on September 14 before she was repatriated back to Ireland.

Large crowds attended Sweeney's Funeral Home in Achill this evening (Monday) to pay respects to her family before her remains were brought to Church of Mary Immaculate, Achill Sound.

Her funeral Mass is due to take place on Tuesday morning at 11am with burial afterwards in Glencoe Cemetery.

Kathleen, who was from a family of 13 girls, was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Margaret, infant twin sister Noirin, sisters Rosaleen, Sally, Maureen and nephew Tommy.

Kathleen will be deeply missed by her sisters, Patsy, Chrissie, Shelia, Angela, Olivia, Margaret, Martina, Ann Ryan and Barbara, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
