A Mayo student was among the high-achieving Leaving Certificate students honoured at the DCU Scholars Awards ceremony held at Dublin City University’s Glasnevin campus on Thursday, January 22.

Beth Fair, a former student of St Mary’s Secondary School in Ballina, was recognised for achieving more than 600 points in her Leaving Certificate examinations. She is currently studying Common Entry into Engineering at DCU.

The awards ceremony took place in The U Student Centre and celebrated undergraduate students who excelled academically in last year’s Leaving Certificate.

Speaking at the ceremony, DCU President Professor Dáire Keogh congratulated the students on their achievements and welcomed them to the university community.

“I am delighted to congratulate the recipients of our Scholars Awards. I am proud that these exceptional students have chosen to study at our University,” he said. “They represent the talent of their generation and the future of our country. They will relish the academic challenges and opportunities of university life and we will support them to achieve their dreams.”

The DCU Scholars Awards aim to acknowledge and encourage academic excellence among incoming undergraduates. Further information on DCU scholarships is available on the university’s website.
