Pictured at the launch of ‘Solas’ in Ballina Library last week were artist Laura Hennigan and Senator Mark Duffy, who officially opened the exhibition.
Mayo portrait artist Laura Hennigan who is based along the Wild Atlantic Way in Co Mayo, has launched her first solo exhibition, Solas, at Ballina Library. The exhibition opened on Friday, June 6, with a well-attended evening event taking place from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Known for her expressive charcoal portraits, Laura’s work blends striking realism with Irish cultural motifs, including Celtic symbols and Irish-language titles that honour her heritage.
“This is such a personal milestone for me,” Laura said on the night. “It’s been 18 months in the making, and it’s incredibly special to share this body of work with the public.”
The exhibition runs until the end of June, with prints available for purchase, perfect for art lovers, collectors, and those drawn to Irish mythology and portraiture.
