Iarnród Éireann, the Irish Exporters Association, and Fleet Transport magazine are hosting a Smart Move Business & Connectivity event at the Grand National Hotel, Ballina on Friday 28 March next.

It will also enable engaging discussions on the necessary improvements and future business opportunities,” explained Kasia Steyn, Senior Project Manager at Iarnród Éireann.
The Keynote speaker is Minister for Rural & Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, joined by Minister of State at the Department of Transport with responsibility for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports. Seán Canney.
The event begins with registration at 9am at the Grand National Hotel, Ballina, and welcome by Mary Moyles, President, Ballina Chamber, followed by the Keynote Address by Minister Calleary. The attendees will then be bused to the Iarnród Éireann Freight Yard nearby for the photoshoot opportunity as the freight train departs the station.
On the return to the hotel, Minister Canney will speak, followed by presentations and a panel discussion by Howard Knott; Supply Chain & Logistics Expert, Consultant for the IEA, Patrick Daly; Director Principal Consultant, Alba Logistics Consultancy, Irish Rail CEO; Jim Meade and Irish Exporters Association CEO Simon McKeever.
Among the attendees include Mayo based exporting manufacturers, Mayo Chambers, Freight Forwarders, Logistics and Supply Chain providers, Mayo County Council, Local Enterprise Office, Road Safety Authority and other organisations such as the West on Track/Western Rail Corridor.
“This event will focus on sustainability, global logistics, international trade and compliance and will provide valuable industry insights, solutions, and connections to help business grow in the region and compete globally,” added Simon McKeever; CEO, Irish Exporters Association.
