Covies set for January premiere

Covies set for 2010 premiere

THE stars will be out on Sunday, January 10 expecting red carpet treatment as the Launch Party for online Westport soap Covies takes place in the Castlecourt Hotel .
Covies creator Len Collin, who has been working on the project since last August, promises it will be an event worth waiting for.
“We’re very proud of  Covies, the town of Westport and our beautiful county. The reactions of those who have been lucky enough to see previews of the episodes has been extremely positive.
“A great many people have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the project.  It’s success however will be down to spreading the word both online and off line.  The Mayo News have been fantastic in backing the project and we want not just the county, but the rest of Ireland to get behind the show. So if anyone has any ideas to help us promote the series let us know. For example if anyone has Stephen Speilberg’s number, give him a call and invite him over for the launch party. I’d like to invite Bill Cullen for example… This might be a new area of investment for him. Let’s try and bring a touch of Hollywood glamour to Bridge Street .”
Taking place in the Castlecourt Hotel, and sponsored by Tesco Westport, there will be a special showing of the first three episodes of the multi-stranded drama, with a wine and finger food buffet provided. Len says that, jokes of Steven Speilberg aside, a number of special guests have been invited and it’s hoped a celebrity or two will turn up to contribute to what should be a very special evening.
The show will officially launch on the internet the following night with the first episode – entitled ‘The Nudie Man’ premiering at 9.00pm on Monday, January 11. The episodes will be hosted on the website TV Westport, which you will find at www.tvwestport.com.
For those without an internet connection there are plans to show episodes of the series in various local establishments on special Covies nights, more details which will follow.
Also, log on to The Mayo News website later this week, where special documentary footage on the ‘Making of Covies’ will be available.
In next week’s Mayo News, find out how you can be one of the chosen few who will be in attendance at the premiere on January 10.
