Cars stolen from Kiltimagh garage

BUSINESSES in three towns in east Mayo were targeted by thieves over the weekend, with two cars being stolen from a garage forecourt.
The incident occurred when Keane’s Garage on the Balla Road, Kiltimagh was broken into and a box of keys taken which allowed the culprits to take two cars from the forecourt. One of the cars was a silver coloured 2005 Opel Vectra, with a registration number 05-D-71813 and the other car was a red coloured 2000 Opel Vectra, with a registration number 00-MO-1493.
The garage was broken into between 6.30pm on Saturday last and 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon. The cars have yet to be recovered and Gardaí are looking for assistance from the public in relation to the crime.
The other two incidents of burglary occurred in Carracastle and Charlestown in the early hours of Saturday morning last and the Gardaí are investigating if there is any connection relating the two crimes.
The earliest incident occurred when the assailants broke into Davy’s Pub, Carracastle between 5.30am and 6am. The building also contained a shop and post office and the front window of the shop was smashed. The base part of the cash register was taken with only a minimal amount of cash taken.
Around the time of the burglary a white van was seen leaving the scene and Gardaí are looking for any information regarding this van.
Up to 15 mobile phones were taken from Connaught Communications, Barrack Street, Charlestown at approximately 8.15am last Saturday morning. The back door of the shop was forced open and 15 various types of phones were taken.
