THERE was great excitement at The Quay in Westport last Wednesday afternoon as news broke that the main supermarket in the area had sold a winning EuroMillions ticket.
The National Lottery confirmed to The Mayo News on Monday evening that the person who bought the ticket on Tuesday, August 23 in Hoban’s Centra at The Quay had made contact with them and claimed their winnings of €152,670. The winning numbers were: 19, 26, 31, 39, 48 and the Lucky stars 2 and 3.
Seán Hoban, who owns the store along with his sister Ciara, was delighted to get the call about the win.
“There has been a mighty buzz in the shop all week, with staff and customers wondering who had scooped what is a lovely prize. It’s great to hear that it has now been claimed and we’d like to wish the winners the very best of luck. It’s a lovely amount for someone to win and should give some security for the winner, especially with the way things are at the minute and how everything’s gone so expensive. We’re in business at the Quay since 1999, I’m actually the fourth generation of the family running the shop, and this is our first big win in the lottos,” said Seán.
