A spokesman for Ireland West Airport Knock confirmed yesterday (Monday) it still has ‘no visibility’ of the numbers of people travelling through the Co Mayo airport over the Christmas period but that the airport would be fully operational from December 13.
He told The Mayo News: “We have no visibility as yet on bookings with Ryanair for the Christmas period. We may get some information from them over the next one to two weeks. The airport will reopen on December 13 and flights are on sale currently on Ryanair.com”
He confirmed there are flights scheduled from that date through the Christmas period to and from Liverpool, London Luton and London Stansted
Whilst Ryanair failed to respond to Mayo News questions about its planned schedule for Knock, a report in yesterday’s Irish Times confirms brisk bookings – some 1,300 for both Ryanair and Aer Lingus from two London airports to Dublin in the days before Christmas. This is despite strong warnings by some health experts to effectively cancel Christmas at home if you are living abroad.
