Gardaí have confirmed that a body of a male was found in Westport and are carrying out investigations to identify him.
The body of the male was discovered by a member of the public at 6.15am in the Tubberhill area of the town. The scene is currently being examined by the Gardaí but initial examinations suggest that the cause of death may not be suspicious.
A Garda spokesperson said they were carrying out a full investigation into the cause of death and they were currently trying to positively identify the man. The body is due to be taken to Mayo University Hospital for a full post mortem to determine the cause of death.
