To mark Organ Donor Awareness Week, which takes place from April 1 to 8, a special Mass will be celebrated at Knock Shrine on Sunday, April 2, at 12 noon.
The Mass is being organised in solidarity with those who are waiting for or have received organs and in thanksgiving for those who have donated organs, and also to remember with love and gratitude all those who died and whose organs were donated by their families following their death.
Giving the gift of life is considered by many to be the ultimate act of kindness, and Organ Donation Week is a great opportunity to highlight the phenomenal impact organ donation can have on a person’s life and the lives of their families.
“Families will be taking part in the liturgy,” explained Monica Morley, director of the Family Centre at Knock Shrine, “and it is hoped that it will be a very special and memorable occasion for all.”
Organ donation cards will be distributed at the end of the Mass, along with purple ribbons in memory of all deceased loved ones.
