Well-known Castlebar-based business Cashin Print has been bought by an American company for an undisclosed fee. Ohio-based Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) announced the deal this month, when staff at Cashin Print were informed.
Cashin Print employs 70 staff at its Castlebar site, and there are hopes this acquisition will lead to further growth there.
Managing Director Damien Cashin will continue to run the Castlebar business for MCC, reporting to John Peat, Global Chief Technology Officer and President Healthcare Europe for MCC.
MCC states it intends to support growth, both in Ireland and the rest of Europe, and that this acquisition broadens its ‘healthcare customer base and printed product range’.
Cashin’s core product is printing instructions for use on medical devices in pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. It also provides a wide range of printing services locally.
“We are delighted to welcome the management team and associates of Cashin Print,” said MCC Executive Chairman Nigel Vinecombe. “This business brings additional expertise to the MCC Group in healthcare inserts and outserts. Leaders in their field, Cashins supply multinational customers in Ireland, the United States and Europe. In combination with MCC’s existing label business in Ireland, there are opportunities to supply a broader product range to a larger healthcare customer base,” added Vinecombe.
Commenting on the acquisition, Damien Cashin said he and his team were ‘excited about being part of MCC and continuing to grow and strengthen the Castlebar site as part of the group’.
Cashin Print has been based in Castlebar since 1965, when it was set up by local man Seamus Cashin, father of Damien. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary late last year, marked with a visit to the site by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
Last year also saw Cashins undergo a €2.25 million expansion at its site on the Breaffy Road Business Park in Castlebar.
MCC has another Irish base, in Dublin. The company employs 4,300 people worldwide in 45 sites spread across six continents.
