Kiltimagh mourns death of Joe Mulhern

Michael Commins

JOE Mulhern, one of the stalwarts of the Kiltimagh business scene over the decades, has died. He was in his early 80s and had been in declining health for some time.
The family have operated the West-Awake Egg Company for many years and established a great reputation for quality throughout the country. Mulhern’s have been synonymous with the poultry business down the years.
They also operated a supermarket on Main Street up to recent years.
Joe was active in various voluntary groups in the town and had a strong interest in local history and related matters. The Mulhern name has been associated with the business life of Kiltimagh since 1914.
His remains will repose at the family home at Main Street from 4pm to 9pm this Tuesday evening with removal to Kiltimagh Church tomorrow (Wednesday) for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.
Interment will take place afterwards in Kilkinure cemetery.
Joe, who was predeceased by his son Joseph, is survived by his wife Sadie, daughters Maura Harten (Moate) and Gráinne (Kiltimagh), sons  Noel and Greg  (Kiltimagh), Gerard (Chicago) and John  (Southampton), sister Breda (Offaly), in-laws, grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends.
May he rest in peace.
