‘Pretty Woman’ Julia Roberts visits Mayo

As exclusively revealed in last week’s Mayo News, Hollywood golden girl Julia Roberts was in Mayo for a few days, and was spotted by stunned onlookers last Tuesday as she enjoyed the attractions the amenities of Westport House and Pirate Adventure Park with  her three small children.
The Academy Award-winning actress has been holidaying in the west Mayo area for several days. She has kept a low profile during that time and on Sunday the family visited Old Head beach near Louisburgh, where it is believed they are staying. They stopped at the Ice Cream Parlour and Café at Old Head and queued up for ice cream like everybody else. Despite being instantly recognisable, Julia and her friends and their children were left to their own devices to enjoy their trip to the beach.
“A staff member, Angela Hastings, noticed her first,” explained Julie Parker, who operates the ice cream parlour.
“She was here as a mother not a movie star, she was very unassuming and was just helping her children have a good time. Noel McGreal came up with the idea to name our most popular sundae after her, so it’s now called the ‘Pretty Woman’,” she revealed.
