The Value Centre Cash and Carry in Castlebar is to continue to trade in a new location following the extensive damage caused by a fire to their premises in the Moneen Industrial Estate in Castlebar on Thursday evening last at approximately 7pm.
A large quantity of stock was destroyed and the cause of the fire has not yet been established. Fire crews from Castlebar, Westport and Ballina attended the scene and it took more than four hours to put the fire out.
The alarm was raised by passers-by after thick black smoke and flames were seen soaring from the roof of the building. The staff had already left for the evening and no injuries were reported.
The business has been moved temporarily to Spencer Park, Castlebar (beside Duffy’s Opel).
In an advertisement in this newspaper Value Centre say how they are hoping to continue trading as normal as possible.
They thank all their customers, staff, the emergency services and Mayo County Council for their support and understanding.
