Knock brothers take over The Bentley in Galway

Michael Commins

THE Bentley, one of the best known venues in Eyre Square, Galway, has been taken over by the Broderick brothers from Knock. The venue, which was home to the famous Cuba Nite Club for many years, closed sometime back. Now, under the guidance and direction of Shane and James Broderick, it is once again at the heart of the night-life in Galway City.
An advertisement in a Galway newspaper saying The Bentley was available for lease caught the attention of the brothers who are both based in Galway. Shane is a doctor in UHG (Galway Regional) while James is a pharmacist in the city. They decided to “give it a go” and take on the lease.
The venue, which has three floors and a capacity of well in excess of 1,000, reopened under new management in early July. Apart from the Nite Club facilities, it is once again operating as a major bar and providing meals and food throughout the day.
The lads are sons of Seamus and Josie Broderick of Knock.
