MAYO native Teresa Walsh has secured a position of intern at the INTO Head office in Dublin. Teresa who hails from Murneen, Claremorris was one of two people to land the prestigious internship out of a field of several contenders.
A past pupil of Barnacarroll NS and Mount St Michael Secondary School in Claremorris, she graduated from Coláiste Mhuire in Marino where she received a B Ed (Hons). Teresa also holds an H Dip in Psychology from the Open University.
Teresa is a member of Craobh na Camoige INTO branch committee and is currently a member of the teaching staff at St Raphael’s Primary School in Ballyfermot, Dublin. She is branch delegate to DCTU and a member of the branch education sub-committee.
Teresa, who is daughter of Margaret (nee McGreal) and Quan Walsh (a native of Co Waterford), says the appointment presents a fresh challenge. “I’ll be on secondment from my permanent teaching position for one academic year starting in September. One gets a whole new perspective on the profession when you are dealing with queries from members all over the country. It will be a great experience to spend a year at the INTO Head Office and I am really looking forward to it in a special way.”
