The next meeting of the Mayo COPD Support Group will be held in the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar (opposite Mayo General Hospital) at 3 pm on Thursday, April 26. A talk on ‘Diet and COPD’ will be given at this meeting of the support group.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive disease that makes it difficult to breathe. It is a catch-all term for common and very serious conditions such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic asthma, and can progressively worsen over time.
The meeting at the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar, will provide an ideal opportunity for people with COPD and their families to discuss ways of making people more aware of COPD, and how to cope with this debilitating disease.
Ursula Clarke, Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist at Mayo General Hospital said: “This meeting will be helpful to people with COPD and their families, enabling them to come together and discuss their experiences of living with COPD, both as sufferers and as family members. It really is a case of ‘Alone we can do so little: together we can make a difference’, so I would encourage anyone who suffers from this disease to come along to meet and share their experience with people who are living with the same illness.”
