BET you there is no budget blues for this lucky Lotto winner. In fact Christmas has come early for a mysterious Aughagower thousandaire who can now afford to put a few extra presents under the festive tree.
And, naturally, speculation is rife as to the identity of the person who bought a €6 quick pick in Scotts of Aughagower, near Westport, last Saturday afternoon, December 3.
And if proprietor John Pat Scott has any knowledge of the winner of the Lotto Plus €250,000, he certainly wasn’t divulging it to The Mayo News last night.
However, he did concede that it was bound to be a local person.
“I would be sure it is a local given our clientele. We are over the moon. We only have the Lotto for the last three-and-a-half years, even though we have the Lottery itself since 1987. This is our first major win and it is great to get good news for a change,” said John Pat Scott.
Scotts of Aughagower is a local community landmark encompassing a shop, bar and post office. It has been operated by the same family for over one hundred years.
