Ballinrobe singer/songwriter Faraway Martin (Martin Farragher) is releasing a new single, ‘Falling in Your Sleep’ this Friday, February 1. The melodic, upbeat tune, which was recorded at Dogfox Studios, Nashville, is the follow-up to the his debut song, ‘Intoxicated’, which was widely well received – and was named one of JOE.ie’s Songs Of The Day.
In ‘Falling in Your Sleep’, which was recorded at Dogfox Studios, Nashville, Faraway Martin lilts about ‘spooning’, hoping for love and emotions that listeners can relate to. Produced by Dave Skelton, the track has drawn comparisons with The Chainsmokers and The Lumineers. His sound is heavily influenced by his Irish roots, with evidence of Damien Rice and Glen Hansard, yet his music has taken a more in your face folk-pop direction.
The video for this latest track was created by award-winning animator Marc Corrigan, who has worked with many Irish acts, including HamsandwicH and Cat Dowling, and international acts such as I’m From Barcelona, Dan The Automator and Lil’ Kim.
Since the release of his debut single ‘Intoxicated’ last October, Faraway Martin has gone on to open shows for Mick Flannery and Hermitage Green, play main stage in Whelan’s with the Galway Street Club, and headline the Róisín Dubh.
The Irishman has also established himself as a live act in his adopted home in Qatar, recently playing support to international pop sensation Bazzi and Boyce Avenue, of YouTube fame.
Watch out for the singer this year, which will see him take to many a festival stage and release his eagerly anticipated debut EP.
