Shrule native and former Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh, has been chosen to host The TV3 Toy Show which will be shown later this month.
The news comes in the same week where Maria made her debut on TV3’s The Seven O’Clock Show which she hosted alongside Martin King last Monday.
Maria’s co-host for TV3’s equivalent of RTÉ’s famous Late Late Toy Show will be Brian Ormond, who has hosted numerous shows on RTÉ, including You’re A Star and Winning Streak.
The 90-minute TV3 Toy that promises to bring together the magic of Christmas with top performances from talented young acts from across Ireland. From the world of dance, music and variety, performers aged five to 16 will wow us with contemporary and Christmas classics, along with young toy testers who will be showcasing this year’s top toys.
Speaking about co-hosting the programme, Maria said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for me. I’ve always dreamed of being a part of a toy show. When TV3 approached me I was over the moon … I just thought this was right up my alley and something I could bring a lot of energy to and have loads of fun in the process. I love everything about Christmas and the magic it brings to children; I’m really looking forward to playing with all the kids and toys!”
This year TV3 will also air a special programme showing the casting for the TV3 Toy Show. In a bid to find this year’s talented young performers and ‘Toy Testers’ to join its cast of acts for this year’s TV3 Toy Show, Maria met hundreds of shortlisted candidates in the Seán O'Casey community centre in Dublin’s East wall.
From music to dance, choirs to solo artists, and of course the all-important toy testers, Maria was tasked with selecting an exceptional bunch of young performers to join this year’s TV3 Toy Show. The entire casting process will be shown in a special programme entitled ‘The Toy Show Auditions’ before the Toy Show itself. The date of the special auditions programme has yet to be revealed.
‘The TV3 Toy Show’ will air on Friday, November 20, at 9pm on TV3.
