Amanda keeps in country on Glór Tíre
YOUNG Ballina singer Amanda Ryan is among the nine finalists in the current series of Glór Tíre on TG4. She was the featured singer on last week’s show which went out on Wednesday night and was repeated last Saturday night.
Amanda is thrilled to be a finalist in the 2013 series. “I have been singing from a young age. The musical influence is mainly from my dad’s side. While I have been influences by various kinds of music, my voice is best suited to country music.
“Gerry Guthrie from my hometown of Ballina is my mentor for the series and I am very thankful to him for giving me this opportunity. He is doing very well on the circuit and will also be featured on the show this week. My dad, Francis, is from Ballina and my mum, Ann, is from Achill Island.”
Amanda is hoping for a good run in the series. “My big dream would be to go to Nashville and meet some of the people I have listened to and admired for so long.
“I need all the votes I can get to progress in the competition. I am the only Mayo contestant and I am very proud to be representing the West. I want to thank all who have been so supportive to date.”
