Top Mayo rock band Silver Circus are flying high these days. The lads are just back from Zurich, where they performed as part of the Guinness 250 year celebrations, and next month they are off to Alsace, France, for a weekend of shows from November 12 to 14. In the meantime, they are playing a number of dates around Co Mayo this month,
First up is a gig in Rendezvous Bar, Balla, on October 24, followed by gigs in the Western Hotel, Claremorris, on October 26; Emmett’s Bar, Ballina, on October 31; and Warde’s, Claremorris, on November 7 – their last gig before they head to France.
Formed in 2004 and hailing from Claremorris, Silver Circus have gone from strength to strength in the last few years. They have played alongside some fantastic artists, including The Donal Kirk Band, Brush Sheils, The Slick Hippies, The Will Nolan Band and Declan O’Rourke.
The band’s brand of rock draws on many styles, drawing inspiration from such disparate sources as Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, The Doobie Brothers, AC/DC, Lynard Skynard, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Stevie Wonder, The Eagles, Weather Report, Dream Theatre, Coldplay, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Jaco Pastorious, John Pettrucci, Steve Gadd and Steve Vai.
Silver Circus are now currently in the studio writing new material. Where do they find the time?
