Going Out

OLD FRIENDS John McDwyer (Educating Rita) and Tom Walsh (The Communication Cord) star in ‘Twilight’.

The ever-popular Beezneez Theatre Company returns to Westport tomorrow night (Wednesday), February 23, with John McDwyer’s new play ‘Twilight’.
Well known for thought-provoking works like as ‘Lovely Leitrim’ and ‘United’, as well as   comedies ‘Unforgiven’ and ‘Turning Mammy’, McDwyer describes ‘Twilight’ as ‘a little bit of both with the leaning towards thought-provoking themes’.
Beezneez was first presented in a trial run in The Dock, Carrick on Shannon, in October 2019.
Such was the positive audience reaction that a national tour was immediately scheduled for apring 2020. That tour got postponed, like so many other things, in March 2020 – but now the BeezNeez Theatre Company and its players are delighted to be back on the road touring.
McDwyer describes ‘Twilight’ as a reflective play that mirrors the way he currently feels, having emerged from lockdown. Two old friends meet for the first time in over 35 years.
Why have they not met in all that time and why are they meeting now? If there are issues between them will they succeed in resolving them? Even though the play is leavened by wit, there are serious matters in play here too.

Curtains up 8pm. Tickets available on www.westporttheatre.com or 098 28459.
