The internationally renowned Other Voices music festival, which took Ballina by storm in September 2018, is returning to the north Mayo capital at the end of February.
Other Voices production company South Wind Blows has collaborated with Moy Valley Resources IRD and Mayo County Council to bring the showcase west again, and this time around there will be great workshops, a music trail in local pubs, high-profile concerts in St Michael’s Church and the ground-breaking Ireland’s Edge Conference. The concerts will be live-streamed to local pubs and Ballina Arts Centre.
Other Voices has been going strong in Dingle’s 200 year-old St James Church for seventeen years now, spawning a hugely popular TV show. Over the years, it has welcomed some of the world’s most eclectic music-makers and captured on film scores of unique, one-off live performances. It ocassionally Other Voices Mayo will also feature in the next broadcast series on RTÉ later this year.
There was a tremendously positive response to the Other Voices Festival in Ballina in 2018, and it is estimated that it benefited the region to the tune of €2 million.
The line up of artists will be announced next week by Other Voices. See the Other Voices page on Facebook, and follow @othervoiceslive on Twitter and othervoiceslive on Instagram.
