Galician and Irish trad merge at the Linenhall

Going Out

EXPLORING RICH TRADITIONS Anxo Lorenzo, Dónal O’Connor, Jack Talty and Jim Murray.

Top Galician and Irish traditional musicians Anxo Lorenzo, Jim Murray, Dónal O’Connor and Jack Talty will join forces for what promises to be a magical night of music at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday, January 16.
This quartet has made a massive contribution to music, in both local and international arenas over the past ten years. Lorenzo (gaita/whistles), Murray (guitar), O’Connor (fiddle) and Talty (concertina) have been at the forefront of highly creative Galician and Irish music-making – as players, composers, arrangers, accompanists, producers and record-label owners.
Their individual talents as working musicians have seen them initiate hundreds of thoughtful and innovative projects, and the set list on this tour will include a Music Network commission from all four performers, with their virtuosity and profound understanding of the music underpinning any daring off-piste exploration they might undertake.
The show, which is part of a Music Network 14-date nationwide tour, brings together the rich musical cultures of Ireland and Spain’s northwest Iberian Peninsula with virtuosity and a sharp intelligence – and a gentle curiosity about where this music sits in the world, and how it relates to the world outside.

The show starts at 8pm. To book tickets (€17/€14 each), visit or call The Linenhall Arts Centre box office on 094 9023733.
