Catch the Clew Bay Pipe Band

Going Out

Westport Town Hall Theatre is getting ready to host the Clew Bay Pipe Band for more rousing tunes on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23.
Since arriving on the stage in 2012, The Clew Bay Pipe Band has excited audiences all over Ireland and beyond. This exceptionally talented young group led by renowned musician Des Cafferkey (Pipe Major) and Peter Carney (Pipe Sergeant) first attracted the attention of Matt Molloy of The Chieftains. Matt invited the band to perform with The Chieftains in 2013, and since then the band’s rise has been meteoric.
Special guests for this year’s concert include local favourites Dan Delaney, Joanne Keegan, Dramacode, The Cresham Dancers and The Sacred Heart Secondary School Choir – all topped off with well-known singer-songwriter Mundy.
The Birr native is no stranger to the Pipe Band, having played with them at the Westport Festival of Music and Food for two years in a row, as well as a sell-out Pipe-Versity gig at the Castlecourt Hotel in 2014 and again for the live televised Mayo Day Concert at the Royal Theatre Castlebar in 2015.
The Clew Bay Pipe Band’s fusion of piping, drumming and rock, traditional and choral music has delighted audiences wherever they play. Their first CD, ‘Pipeversity’, recorded live in Westport Town Hall, was launched last Christmas and continues to be a huge success.
