Going Out

CURE ALL Kj McEvoy and Aileen Mythen of The Remedy Club.

The Remedy Club, a husband-and-wife Americana/roots duo comprised of Kj McEvoy (guitar and vocals) and Aileen Mythen (vocals and percussion), will play at Garbo’s in Castlebar on Friday, November 1, as part of the venue’s Friday-night Folkizm series.
Live, The Remedy Club are an exciting, captivating proposition, with their performances veering from intimate and soulful to full on hoedown mode.
The Gorey-based couple possess ‘a classic, rich and wholly authentic country-roots sound with vocals to die for’, according to the UK’s Fatea Magazine, while respected music critic, former Hot Press journalist Jackie Hayden describes their sound as ‘a marriage of folk and country with a hint of the blues, with delicious harmonies and nimble guitar playing’.
The dynamic duo are just back from Nashville, having worked on their next album with five-time Grammy-award-winning producer Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Willie Nelson), and they are looking forward to releasing its single in the coming months and the full album in early 2020.
Joining the pair for the Garbo’s gig are special guests, local singer-songwriter Paul Greenan and Westport duo Jo Keegan and Joe Fury.

Tickets to The Remedy Club (€15 each) will be available on the door at Garbo’s, Mayo Leisure Point, Castlebar, and on Doors open 9pm.
