Emmy-award winning cinematographer Colin Stafford-Johnson is the foremost nature and wildlife cinematographer and presenter in Ireland today. He could be considered the Irish David Attenborough, given his encyclopedic knowledge of wildlife and nature. Now an adopted son of Westport, Stafford-Johnson returns to the Westport Town Hall Theatre as part of his nationwide tour, telling the stories from his ongoing journey of discovery, with ‘My Wild Atlantic Journey’, this Friday, September 27, at 8pm.
With over 30 years experience, Stafford-Johnson’s in-depth understanding and appreciation of wildlife here in Ireland, and in the most remote parts of the world, make him a leading wildlife expert. He has been walking, exploring and filming wildlife along Ireland’s wild Atlantic coast over the last 15 years.
Stafford-Johnson’s accolades include winning an Emmy, as well as prestigious awards at Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and WWF Golden Pandas at Wildscreen. In 2018, his documentary ‘Wild Ireland - Edge of the World’ won the Grierson Award for Best Natural History Film.
