CENTRAL ROLES Anna Nugent and Paul Nugent in 'The Long Wet Grass'.

Callow Lake, found between Swinford and Foxford, is the setting for film version of Seamus Scanlon’s award-winning play ‘The Long Wet Grass’.
The Long Wet Grass won the Best Actress, Best Director and Best Design awards in Origin’s 1st Irish Theatre Festival in NYC in September 2014. A production of the play was subsequently staged at Town Hall Theatre, Westport, in August 2015, starring Westport actors Paul O’Brien and Paul Dunning. It was also staged at two venues in Galway City.
The short film will feature the lead actors from the stage version of ‘The Long Wet Grass’. Anna Nugent (‘Law and Order: SVU’, ‘We Have Always Lived in the Castle’) will return to her award-winning role as Woman, while Paul Nugent (‘The Blacklist’, ‘The McGowan Trilogy’) will return to the role of Victor McGowan.
The screenplay, written by Seamus Scanlon, will be directed by London-based filmmaker Justin Davey, who will reunite for the project with Director of Photography Lakshika Serasinhe. They most recently made the short film ‘Adulting’ with Linda Breathnach, which played to acclaim at the 2016 Galway Film Fleadh.
Filming for ‘The Long Wet Grass’ began at Callow Lake on Sunday, October 2.
