Following its hugely successful children’s festival last year, Áras Inis Gluaire is once again holding Féile na bPáistí over the Easter holidays.
The féile will be held over four days – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 10, 11, 12 and 13 – and is designed to foster a love of the Irish language in children in a fun-filled way.
The line-up is a smorgasbord of exciting events for kids, Events include digital-media training with Gliondar, during which eight to 12 year olds will learn about stop-motion animation based on the story of the Children of Lír; a visual-arts workshop with Cyril O’Flaithearta – back by popular demand; ‘An Turnipe Mór’ a bi-lingual workshop and a comedy performance with the Armagh Rhymers; a ‘Mad Music and Dancing Workshop’ with Colm de Bhaldraithe; an exhibition launch; and a book fair. School children were also invited to enter their favourite poems, either written by themselves or by another author. The winners of the various categories in ‘My Favourite Poem’ will receive new books for their school as well as a copy of their recording, which will also be used in a programme to be broadcast by Iorras FM.
Places must be booked for each workshop or event, as spaces are limited. For more details on dates, times and prices, visit www.arasinisgluaire.ie, email Lisa Padden at l.padden@arasinisgluaire.ie, phone 097 81079 or call into Áras Inis Gluaire in person.
