Michael Commins

THE lovely Island of Inishbofin off the Galway coast attracts a steady stream of visitors every summer. The peace and the tranquillity of the island is a constant magnet that attracts people back time after time.
Donal Kitt tells us that a major fundraising night for the island community will be held in Monroe’s Tavern in Galway city on Thursday, March 31.
It will feature Inishbofin’s finest musicians and guests who will celebrate the best in trad to help raise funds for Inishbofin community events and initiatives.
These events are an important part of island life, and help to ensure Inisbofin remains a much-loved, attractive destination for tourists and day-trippers alike.
An energetic and lively night is promised with music from Inishbofin’s legendary Dessie O’Halloran, John O’Halloran and friends, the island’s own Peadar King, Portherhead, dancing from All-Ireland sean-nós champion Emma O’Sullivan, singer/songwriter Don Stiffe and many more.
The compere for the show will be Matt Keane from Caherlistrane and tickets are just €10. For further details call 095 45989 or visit
