PETS’ CORNER August’s Mutt of the month: Polka

Living

Mutt of the Month
August — Polka

I’m Polka, and I’m only about a year old. A kind lady found me wandering around lost and alone, without a microchip or any way to get me back to my family. So she called the dog warden, who brought me here. I had to wait in case my family came looking for me, but sadly they didn’t, so now I’m ready to look for a forever home with someone who will mind me forever and make sure I never get lost again.
They tell me I’m a stunning looking girl, very unusual and they’re still guessing what my breed mix is. They say I look like a mini Australian Cattle dog, but I could be anything really.
I love to run and play and there’s definitely Collie in me, as I like to try and herd the other dogs if they let me! I’m not a couch potato, but I’m not a complete loon either; I’m easy to live with if you’re willing to spend some time playing with me, walking me and giving my clever brain something to do.
A family with older kids would be ideal, but I’d also be happy with a reasonably active, outdoorsy kind of person.

Polka is just one of many Mayo and Galway rescue dogs at Connemara-based Mutts Anonymous Dog Rescue and Adoption (MADRA) looking for a loving home. All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Please see www.madra.ie, visit MADRA’s Facebook page or call or text Marina on 086 8149026.
