Laoise Kelly to launch new album in Matt Molloy’s

‘Fáilte Uí Cheallaigh’, the new album from Laoise Kelly, will be launched in Matt Molloy’s, Westport, at 8pm this Thursday, May 14.
‘Fáilte Uí Cheallaigh’ or ‘Kelly’s Welcome’ is a new collection of solo tunes on harp by the renowned Westport-born harpist. It was inspired by the Kelly Clan Rally which takes place in The Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, this weekend, May 15-17, and by the abundance of unique tunes connected with Kellys of one kind or another for centuries. It features tunes by the famous 17th century harper Turlough O’Carolan, which were composed for various Kelly clans.
Kellys feature in many of the titles of the various jigs, reels, waltzes, polkas and slides in this album, while other Kellys feature as collectors or composers of these eclectic tunes. The final track features a newly composed air by Laoise bringing this music collection right up to the present day.
