McHale Park planning approved subject to 16 conditions
The McHale Park, Castlebar planning saga looks to be at an end after An Bord Pleanála approved altered development at the Mayo GAA stadium subject to 16 conditions.
The McHale Road Residents’ Association had appealed the decision to grant planning permission, seeking modifications to the controversial broadcasting tower and floodlights. As well as the tower and lights, the conditions to the ABP decision relate to matters such as landscaping and the visibility of a security fence.
The decision can be appealed to the High Court, but should both sides accept it, the stage could be set for the first match under floodlights at the stadium. All-Ireland finalists Down are due to play Mayo at the venue in the first round of the National Football League on Saturday, February 5.
