Blurb: RAINFALL that normally occurs once in every 150 years, which caused landslides that destroyed bridges and roads in parts of Mayo, could not have come at a worse time. That's according to Mayo County Council’s top engineer, Joe Beirne, who said the Council are unlikely to be able to pay for the clean-up.
On July 2, torrential rainfall, the heaviest the county has seen for four years, caused flooding and landslides in parts of west and south Mayo resulting in bridges being destroyed and many roads being blocked.
