Michael Duffy

Michael Duffy has been Editor of The Mayo News since 2011.
A native of Killawalla, a village in central Mayo, Michael joined the staff of The Mayo News in 2000, after graduating with a Degree in English, Media and Communications from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. During that time he also studied in Loyala University in Chicago.
Having been a news reporter, covering all levels of court and local council meetings, Michael became News Editor of The Mayo News in 2007, and went on to become Editor of the newspaper in 2011. Under Michael's stewardship, The Mayo News was chosen as the best local newspaper in Europe at the 2014 European Newspaper Design and Concept Awards.
Michael is well-known in sporting circles in Mayo, working as a parade ring announcer at Ballinrobe Racecourse, and having been Secretary of his home GAA Club, Ballintubber, when they won five senior county titles between 2010 and 2019.
