Edwin McGreal
David Clarke 7
While some of his kick-outs went awry, his presence was rock-solid and his reading of Donncha O’Connor’s intentions saw an interception as worthy as many a save.
Chris Barrett 7
Paul Kerrigan didn’t prosper and Barrett can be reasonably happy with that. He did his best to drive Mayo on from defence too.
Ger Cafferkey 7
Defiantly he hassled and harassed Ciarán Sheehan into a lot of turnovers in the first half and did well, especially considering how isolated the full-back line was.
Liam O'Malley 5
Was handed a real difficult assignment on Daniel Goulding and started okay.
But when Goulding got good service, there was only going to be one winner.
Donal Vaughan 6
Worked hard and showed an intensity which was lacking elsewhere on the Mayo team. A bit loose on Paddy Kelly in the first half but emerged in credit.
Trevor Howley 4
A day when nothing would go right.
Got caught between marking Donncha O’Connor and playing a covering role and ended up doing neither. Better suited to the corner?
Kevin McLoughlin 7
Comfortably got the better of Fintan Goold throughout and his two perfectly-timed and inspirational bursts late in the first half gave Conor Mortimer two simple points.
Tom Parsons 4
A couple of nervy mistakes didn’t help him but Parsons was unable to get into the game and looked very uncomfortable in possession. Lucky to remain on for so long.
Seamus O'Shea 6
While he worked hard, O’Shea wasn’t able to make as many powerful runs as heretofore. Did kick two fine points but was out of the game at stages too.
Andy Moran 5
Didn’t get into the game at all. Could not be faulted for effort, as usual, but on a day when Mayo struggled, Moran was a peripheral figure.
Alan Dillon 6
Struggled to best Michael Shields but was a positive presence in possession. Dropped one effort badly short in the first half and will know there’s more in him.
Trevor Mortimer 4
Mayo would have been in front at half-time had he made the most of possession. Wasted a frightening amount of ball and spurned some straightforward chances.
Conor Mortimer 7
Eventually, Mortimer ended up being Mayo’s best forward. Kicked three points from play and was solid from frees. Needs to develop a dynamic with Aidan O’Shea.
Aidan O’Shea 6
Won a decent amount of possession but the ball died with him too much. Unlucky also not to goal twice in the first half but got wrapped up too easily at times.
Mark Ronaldson 6
Was a busy presence in the full-forward line, even if he rushed one goal chance. Can rightly wonder why he was the player singled out to be replaced at half-time..
SUBS
Ronan McGarrity 5
Came on to improve Mayo’s well-being at midfield but he drifted badly out of the game which may be explained by his time off injured and lack of match practice.
Aidan Kilcoyne 5
Was good to see him back after a lengthy lay-off but he struggled to get to the pace of the game. He now has five weeks with which to work on now.
Alan Freeman

Management 5
While their defensive options may have been limited, it was strange to see a side who conceded 1-17 not remove one defender or even make a defensive positional switch. Cork were able to create the space for their forwards a little too easily also.
Bringing on Ronan McGarrity didn’t improve things and Mark Ronaldson can consider himself hard done by. They will be asking what happened their players after Conor Mortimer made it 0-9 to 0-7?
