Name: Liam Kearns
Club: Davitts Age: 29
Occupation: ICT Manager with ECC Timber Products
What’s your idea of perfect happiness?
A week consisting of a County Final victory with Davitts, followed by a Euromillions win on the Tuesday and booking the team holiday on the Wednesday!
Which living person do you most admire?
Shane Lowry at the minute. Plays golf as his profession, drinks pints as his pass-time.
What’s your greatest extravagance?
Football boots. I’m a sucker for an expensive pair of retro boots! Currently have a pair of white & black Adidas F50+. The way the age is going, the days of expensive boots may have to go.
What’s your favourite journey?
If I didn’t say Michael O’Leary’s Ryanair ‘Knock to Liverpool’ flight I’d be a liar! However, the return one is always my least favourite...
What or who is the love of your life?
Was my dog, Ted, up until last November :( Haven’t moved on as of yet but who knows hey.
When and where were you happiest?
Early January/February in the rain, wind and muck at the old pitch in Ballindine. Pushed closely by Liverpool, June 1 2019 #SixTimes
Which talent would you most like to have?
Seeing as I already am an excellent singer and dancer, being handy at magic would probably be cool; A nice conversation starter and could pay the bills too.
What’s your greatest achievement?
Football wise, and probably life wise, playing for my club in Croke Park was special in 2012. Although we didn’t get over the line, it was a huge year for everyone involved in the club and community! Not to get ahead of ourselves or anything, but Mickey C’ said that the Croke Park Hotel wanted to know did we want one night or two for the ‘Early Bird Special’ on Paddy’s Weekend!
What’s your most treasured possession?
Iphone. Without easy access to Twitter I’d be in big trouble.
What’s your favourite pass time?
Golf. I may or may not be on a tee-box in the south east of Spain when this hits the printing press!
What’s the quality you most like in a person?
Ability to give and receive abuse (slaggings) — you need to be thick-skinned in some of our WhatsApp groups.
Who are your favourite footballers?
Don’t have to go outside Mayo or Ballindine for these - Ciaran Mc was and still is the GOAT. However, on my own doorstep it’s a privilege to play with Boyler. The man leads by example and drags extra effort out of everyone around him. Tom Wally is another one of the younger generation in Davitts to watch out for, a real Shark!
What’s your motto?
Being surrounded by good people means a bad hangover.
