TRINITY College Dublin captured the Harding Cup following an evenly-matched contest against University College Cork last Saturday.
This is only the fourth occasion that Trinity College have won this prestigious trophy and the first since 1997.
Trinity defeated Mary Immaculate College 2-1 on Thursday in the quarter final with Cian Dunne from Westport scoring the winning goal.
Trinity then put three goals past Maynooth University in the semi-final on Friday and finally defeated UCC by a solitary goal in the final which was played in Tolka Park.
The Harding Cup was developed by the late Dr Tony O’Neill and was first played for in the 1969-1970 season.
It is unique in that it is confined to first year students and is co-ordinated by the Irish Universities Football Union. The 2018 tournament was hosted by DCU following their victory in 2017.
