Occupation: Sales Director

Name three things that are always in your fridge?
Turkey, Greek yogurt and unsalted butter.

What’s your favourite TV show?
Watching Black Mirror at present, but favourite has to be The Wire.

Which three guests would you invite to your dinner party?
Barack Obama sounds like a good laugh. Chris Rock for the laughs, and Rick Stein, the chef, for all his food travel stories.

A night in, or a big night out?
Night out.

Who’s your ideal date?
Dinner with the gorgeous Ann Filan, who has supported me through all my football career.

What makes you nervous?
Kieran Hastings preparing to foot-pass to the inside forwards!

What’s been your worst holiday?
Bear-hunting in Canada, got lost for two days in the Rockys.

Any football superstitions?
Usually put my togs on last, no real reason for this.

Biggest messer in Mayo Masters dressing-room?
Pat Clarke. Loves winding up the lads that travel to training with him. Pat’s ambition (other than winning the All-Ireland) is to have a cameo appearance in Red Rock!

What do you miss most about being a kid?
Playing football all day and night with my brother Seán.

What’s your most prized possession?
Senior county medal from 2013.

Most under-rated player in Mayo club football?
Ray O’Malley – an intelligent footballer with great skill and forever consistent.

Last time you cried?
When Bryan Hennelly kicked the first score against Tyrone in the semi-final. I had never seen him score in 20 years. It was emotional.

Best thing about being a Mayo Masters footballer?
Representing the Green and Red and meeting lads that you would have played against for years.

Worst thing about being a Mayo Masters footballer?
Not being recognised by the GAA hierarchy. All the lads are committed GAA men who give their time back to their clubs coaching underage teams.

Best advice you ever got?
Be positive and the rest will follow.

Three things you’d bring to a desert island?
Family, kettlebell and a pen.

Favourite Mayo footballer as a kid?
Henry Gavin. Two fantastic feet and great reader of a game.

Describe yourself in three words?
Competitive, fearless, and fun.
