Revenue Row, The Quay, Westport
The death has taken place of Mary Ann Coughlan on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Mayo University Hospital. A loving wife, wonderful mother, a super nanny and a fabulous friend. Mam was born in Ballyglass where she, Peter and Seamus had a very happy childhood. She grew up and moved to Castlebar, studying to become a nurse which she was very passionate about. She worked at St Mary’s and adored her job, friends and patients. She met Dad and soon after they were married, living on Revenue Row. They were ‘as happy as Larry’ and had four children, Maria, Caroline, Pat and Denny. We feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful mother. She was an absolute lady and was so kind and caring. She was always smiling and had a great sense of humour. There was always time for a chat. Mary commenced work in Allergan and loved every minute. She made some wonderful lifelong friends and we are lucky to call each one of you our friends too. Not to forget her buddies from The Quay’s, her list of friends is endless. There was nothing she loved more than a little gambling here and there, whether it be bingo, the Ballinrobe races or sitting in the kitchen shouting at the Cheltenham races. Her true loves were her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Mary adored and spoiled them rotten. In recent weeks unfortunately, her health took a downward turn as she faced some health issues. She would often say “well he must have broken the mould when he made me”. Well, she was right, He did. Mary truly was one of a kind. As Fr Gerrard said “she was like royalty, she was our Queen”. Mam, we love you and miss you every day. Sleep well.
Mary will be sadly missed by all, especially her husband Pat, daughters Caroline and Maria, sons Denis and Pat, daughters-in-law Noleen and Sabrina, son-in-law Adrian, grandchildren Dillon, Cian, Ethan, Sophia, Noah, Cody, Callum, Lily and Luke; brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
