Cabra, Dublin native of Louisburgh, County Mayo
The death has occurred of Sharon Houlihan, of Louisburgh, Co Mayo in her 52nd year. Sharon was the daughter of the late Gerry and Nancy Houlihan, Louisburgh. Sharon attended St Mary’s School for deaf girls in Cabra, Dublin, from the age of six until the age of 18. She then settled in Mayo for many years, while working in the Weir Restaurant, Louisburgh (John Durkan’s).
Sharon then returned to Dublin to seek work in 1977 where she took up a position as a housekeeper and had a big interest in the deaf community as she was deaf herself. She loved days out clothes shopping and socialising with her friends.
It was there she met her fiancee James Downey. Sharon had two sisters, Margaret and Geraldine. She was caring and a very hard worker who took great pride it what she did. Removal took place from Sweeney’s Funeral home to St Patrick’s Church, Louisburgh, where funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr Mattie Long. Sharon was laid to rest in Kilgeever cemetery with her beloved mother Nancy and father Gerry, where they are together united in eternal rest. Sharon enjoyed life to the full until her sudden passing on May 6, 2018. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Margaret and Geraldine, brothers-in-law Ger and Peter, nieces Stephanie and Sandra, nephews Brendan, Padraic, Seán and Dylan, aunt Margaret in England, her cousins and many many friends.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
