Thomas Anthony Duffy



THE death took place last week at the North West Hospice in Sligo of Thomas Anthony Duffy, Skeheen, Kilmovee. He was 83 and had been in declining health for some time.
Thomas Anthony and his wife Mary raised a family of seven sons and the family have played a prominent role in the community life of the Kilmovee area over the years. The lads were involved with the local Shamrocks teams and Thomas Anthony took a keen interest in the local scene as well as supporting Mayo.
Farming was his way of life and he was a man with a good knowledge of the land and the livestock scene. He was a man who was at ease and at peace among rural people and he enjoyed many a homely gathering with neighbours and friends.
Thomas Anthony was noted for his kind manner and friendly disposition. He had an easy rapport with people and exuded a happy nature. He will be fondly remembered by his devoted family and friends.
Reposing was at The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, on Tuesday evening with removal to Kilmovee church. Burial took place in Naomh Mobhi Cemetery after Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday celebrated by Fr Vincent Sherlock, PP. Large crowds attended the ceremonies on both days.
Thomas Anthony is deeply regretted by his wife Mary, sons Anthony, Gabriel, Patrick, Michael, Oliver, Thomas and Francis, brothers Michael and Martin, sisters Margaret and Kathleen, his fifteen grandchildren, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
