Tommie Hastings, Wokingham, Berkshire, England, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2017, in his 83rd year. A native of Erriff, Leenane, he was the son of the late Patrick and Bridget Hastings. Tommie moved to Wokingham, Berkshire, England, where he operated his own successful construction business T and J Constructions, with his wife June always close to his side. Tommie always kept in touch with what was happening and who was doing what in Erriff, he loved to visit home when he could and he and his wife June loved to tour around Leenane, Westport and Tourmakeady, visiting family, relations and friends. Tommie loved his garden and spent many an hour in it, especially after his retirement. He loved horse racing and meeting up with the Walsh brothers at Newbury Racecourse annually.
Tommie was predeceased by his brothers Patrick (Coventry), John (Peterbrough), Phil (Erriff, Leenane), sisters Mary McAveety (London), Margaret Gavin (Birmingham). Removal took place from AB Walkers Undertakers to Corpus Christi RC Church, where Fr David O’ Sullivan officiated at the funeral Mass.
Tommie was laid to rest in East Hampstead Cemetery. Tommie is survived by his wife June (Wokingham, Berkshire), brothers Dan (Liverpool), Mick (Banbury), sister Julia McGovern (Liscarney), sisters-in-law Maureen Hastings, Rose Hastings, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
