Gerald Creaney

Portadown, Co Armagh

On October 14 2017, Gerald passed away peacefully after a well fought battle with cancer. Although he had been in a lot of pain, he never once complained, never asked why me, never became bitter or angry and never lost his faith in God.
Gerald was born on April 29 1947. He was raised in Portadown and was the son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Creaney and brother to Tony, Patsy, Ann and Catherine. In the early 70’s while on holiday in Westport he met his wife Ann (nee Dolan) from Shraheen, Aughagower. They got married in St Patrick’s Church, Aughagower on April 13 1974. They set up home in Portadown and were blessed with two children. He spent a lot of time travelling to Mayo/Galway to see family and friends. He loved spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. While Ann was Gerald’s first love, a close second was sport. He was a huge Manchester United fan and loved Gaelic football. He was a proud man in the Hogan stand in September 2002 when Armagh won the Sam Maguire for the first and only time. His favourite pastime was racing pigeons and he was lucky enough to have some good pigeons that won many a race for him.
So with a heavy heart, we say goodbye to Gerald, the loving husband, the proud dad and the doting and besotted granddad.
Gerald is remembered and loved by his wife Ann, son Thomas (Castlebar), daughter Colette (Caherlistrane), daughter-in-law Eilish, son-in-law Kevin, grandchildren Enda, Ciara, Nicole and Ryan, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends and grandchildren.
