Edward Ketterick

Carrigaline, Co Cork and Tubberhill, Westport, Co Mayo

On Sunday, July 9, 2017 the community of Carrigaline, Co Cork and Westport, Co Mayo were deeply saddened with the news that Edward Ketterick has passed away aged 52.
Edward was born on October 23, 1964 to the late Seán and Maureen Ketterick of Tubberhill, Westport. He is brother to Martin, Michael (RIP) and Paula. He attended the Christian Brothers’ Secondary School, Westport and later received a degree in Social Care from Sligo IT.
Edward is survived by his beautiful wife Iris and daughters Jade and Aoife. Edward and Iris met in Amsterdam and it wasn’t long before the two lovebirds tied the knot. They later went on to have their wonderful children Jade and Aoife, who were Edward’s pride and joy.
Edward was incredibly proud of his Irish roots but also had a burning desire for travel. He enjoyed seeing the world with his nearest and dearest. Some of his more recent trips included family holidays to Bali, Thailand and Mexico along with roughing it through India with his brother Martin.
Anyone who knew Edward would know of his love of music, most notably, David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. One of his proudest days as a father was taking Jade to her first concert in Dublin.
Edward was a keen reader and was interested in everything from history to politics. He was also part of a motorcycling group in Carrigaline where he met many friends with the same passion for motorcycling.
To say that Edward will be missed is an understatement, however the memories left behind are forever with his closest family—his wife Iris, his daughters Jade and Aoife, his brother Martin and sister Paula, his brother-in-law Michael, his sister-in-law Angela and his many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Mass will be celebrated on October 21 in St Mary’s Church, Westport at 2pm with burial of remaining ashes in Aughavale Cemetery.
May his soul rest in peace.
