Foxford, Knock and Manchester
JIMMY Prendergast, Foxford, who died last week, was a native of Clarkefield, Knock. His sister Margaret (Conlon) died just a week earlier.
Jimmy married Attracta Regan from Cuiltybo and they resided in Manchester for many years where they raised their family of five, three sons and two daughters. Jimmy and Attracta returned to their native Mayo a good many years ago and settled in Foxford.
Their easy and pleasant nature saw them make new friends and they quickly fitted into life back home in the West. They enjoyed some nights dancing to the country singers and bands and Big Tom and The Mainliners were their special favourites. Jimmy also loved the game of 25 and attended some of the regular games around the region.
Jimmy, who was in his early 80s, was a contented and good natured gentleman. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Reposing was at the Marian Funeral Home, Knock, on Friday evening with removal to Knock Church. Interment took place in the local cemetery following Requiem Mass on Saturday celebrated by Fr Nigel Woollen.
He is deeply regretted by his wife Attracta and family, James, Bernadette , Michael, Brendan and Anne, grandchildren and great-grandchild, brother Michael, sister Sarah, in-laws, relatives and friends.
