Kathleen O’Donnell

Obituaries

Cloonamna, Kilmovee

THE death took place at her residence last week of Kathleen O’Donnell, Cloonamna, Kilmovee. Kathleen (nee Towey) was in her late 80s and was predeceased by her husband Con 33 years ago.
Kathleen and Con raised a large family of ten, five sons and five daughters. Con’s death at a relatively young age meant that Kathleen became very much centre stage in the lives of all the family. She was a great mother and was always there to help and advise and guide her family. Many were the sacrifices she made for them over the years. She was a gentle and gracious lady who always put others first.
Kathleen had a great rapport with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she had that special ability to be at home with people of all generations. She will be fondly remembered by her devoted family and friends.
Large crowds attended the funeral ceremonies in the family home and removal took place to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kilmovee for Mass of the Resurrection on St Patrick’s Day. There was a capacity congregation for the Mass which was celebrated by Fr Vincent Sherlock, PP, assisted by Fr Dan O’Mahony, Fr Joe Gavigan and Fr Stephen Farragher. Interment took place in Naomh Mobhí Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons Seán, Con, Seamus, Paul and Brendan, daughters Cáit, Maura, Winnie, Breedge and Sheila, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Seamus, Matt and Andy, sisters Una and Ester, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
