Shranacloye, Louisburgh
The death took place suddenly at Mayo General Hospital on February 15 last, of Mrs Rita Kilcoyne, Shranacloye, Louisburgh, a well-known and much-loved figure in the local community. She was 88 years of age and was predeceased by her husband Anthony, on May 3, 1989.
Rita will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother whose recreational interests were simple. She was very devoted to her own family, nephews, nieces and grandchildren and took a keen interest in them and all that was happening in their lives. She dispensed good advice freely to them all.
She worked hard all her life and led a healthy, active and independent life up to her death.
Her sudden passing came as a great shock to all her family, relations and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her sons Michael, John, Patrick and Thomas, daughters Mary, Assumpta, Evelyn and Tina, sons-in-law Colm, Gabriel and John, daughters-in-law Terry, Marian and Maureen, sister-in-law Margaret (USA), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Following repose at the family home, a very representative cortege accompanied her removal from Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Louisburgh to St Patrick’s Church, Louisburgh where Fr Mattie Long officiated. Concelebrants at her funeral Mass were Fr Mattie Long and Fr Paddy Gill. In his homily Fr Mattie Long paid tribute to Rita for her deep faith, her many christian qualities and her devotion to her family and community. Family members took part in the funeral liturgy.
Rita was laid to rest in the family grave in Kilgeever Cemetery.
May her gentle and loving soul rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.
