‘Widows’ Paradise’ staged at Royal Theatre

Following unprecedented demand and seven sell-out performances in Westport, St Patrick’s Drama Group, Westport, has announced further dates and venues for its current box-office  hit, ‘Widows’ Paradise’, by Sam Cree.
This fantastically funny three-act comedy has thrilled audiences, sending them home laughing and leaving nothing but a natural feel-good factor in its wake. We all know laughter is the best medicine, and this play has undoubtedly been an absolute tonic to all who have flocked to see it so far, not to mention the cast and crew involved in staging the production! In the words of one audience member, who saw the play twice: “There would be less visits to the doctors if we went to more plays like this!”
The action takes place in a ‘luxury’ caravan, with five colourful ladies having embarked on a ‘strictly women only’ holiday in the Mayo countryside. However, their plans are disrupted due to a case of ‘mistaken caravan identity’ and arrival of a no nonsense alpha-male and his dim-witted side-kick and handsome young son Alan.
If you missed ‘Widows’ Paradise’ in Westport, and could do with some tickle treatment, head to Castlebar this Friday, where it will be staged at The Royal Theatre.
As many know, St Patrick’s Drama group is no stranger to this state-of-the-art venue, having successfully staged ‘A Wake in the West’, by Michael Joe Ginnelly, for five nights at the venue only a couple of years ago.
The members of the group are most excited to be returning to the venue, which they love. No doubt, it will be a cracker of a night.

*‘Widows’ Paradise’ will be staged at The Royal Theatre Castlebar on Friday, May 13. To book tickets, contact The Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on 0818 300 000 or visit www.royaltheatre.ie. There is also a limited number of tickets on sale from Dyars Jewellers, Bridge Street, Westport, 098 25558/086 860 9981.
